Two lawmakers representing the district, state Rep. Tim O’Neal, R-Washington, and state Rep. Jason Ortitay, R-Cecil Township, have taken the lead in calling for further investigation of the issue. O’Neal’s resolution would call on the state House of Representatives to call on the U.S. Congress to launch a National Institutes of Health study, and O’Neal and Ortitay have been successful in a getting a $100,000 grant from the Department of Health to determine the genetic underpinnings of Ewing’s.
